Sprucing Up Your Home for Spring with Pets in Mind
Winter brings in mud, water, and dirt, not to mention more indoor time with shedding pets. Vacuum your carpet well, then give it a good carpet cleaning or at least spot clean with a strong deodorizer.
Hard Floors:
Pets love leaving behind dinner scraps and spills. Sweep and mop thoroughly, paying extra attention to hard-to-reach spots.
Beds (Yours and Theirs):
While we're good about changing our sheets, pet beds often get overlooked. Toss your pet beds in the wash, and don't forget to vacuum and spot clean under your own bed.
Bowls and Feeding Mats:
Get a mat for your pet's food and water bowls – they're spill-savers. Dishwasher the bowls and scrub the mat in the sink.
Furniture:
Pet hair sticks to upholstery like glue. Get it professionally cleaned or invest in a quality pet fur remover. Make sure you reach all those nooks and crannies in your couches and chairs.
Eliminating Odors:
Instead of just covering up smells, try to get rid of them. Combat pet odors by placing half-open boxes of baking soda around your home. Keep them out of reach. After cleaning, open the windows to let fumes escape. Even non-toxic cleansers can bother your pet's nose.
Now that your home is squeaky clean, it's time to welcome your pet back in to spread fluff and fur everywhere. Any other spots in your home needing some extra care?
